Jean has been designing, installing and maintaining a wide variety of garden types for over 15 years. During her ten years at Quail Botanical Garden (now San Diego Botanical Garden), she had the opportunity to develop skills with plants from all over the world: Africa, New Zealand, Australia, the Mediterranean, and of course California. The plants ranged from subtropical fruits, bamboos, succulents, cycads to all types of perennials. Jean understands soil, soil amendments, light conditions and irrigation requirements.
Jean Nordstrom Landscape provides you with an enjoyable, artistic garden design based on a realistic approach to installation and maintenance. Jean works closely with clients to achieve that end result.
Her gardens are designed for you to enjoy. Whether you are looking for a “hands on" type of experience or you just want to relax and enjoy the plants, butterflies and birds.
Furthermore, improved gardens will help increase the value of your home.
Over the last 6 years Jean has been designing and installing landscapes in San Diego County. While specializing in drought tolerant gardens, she does have the skill and experience to cater to client’s specific wishes and needs. Whether it be a garden that attracts butterflies, a healing garden or a low maintenance garden, Jean will make it happen - with great care.

PLANNING & DESIGN
Jean can assist you in creating and designing the perfect space for a landscape that fits your lifestyle. She looks forward to addressing your personal landscape needs. The goal is to help you create a landscape that will enhance the beauty and value of your property. She will take time to review and discuss various options that are available to you and your goals for your new landscape. Your landscape concerns will be carefully thought out and discussed. Once the consultation is complete you will receive a plan and a quote for a new landscape design.
INSTALLATION
There are many elements that can be used in garden design. Specific elements are a way to personalize your garden experience. Adding features to your garden helps to break up repetition of textures and colors, can draw attention to structural focal points and brings balance and harmony to your design. Using paths, low walls, dry riverbeds, specimen plants, large boulders and water fountains are ways to add featured elements to your garden.
MAINTENANCE
Designing and planting is only the beginning of enjoying your new garden. Keeping your garden thriving and growing will take minor maintenance. Jean Nordstrom Landscape can provide you with gardening maintenance care by performing monthly or bi monthly scheduled visits. We can discuss your maintenance needs. Typical maintenance needs are: Mulching, Pruning, Plant Removal, Adding Plants, Weeding, Trimming, Fertilize and Adding Soil Amendments.
ENJOY YOUR NEW LANDSCAPE
After installation is complete, we can walk through your landscape together to explain growth habits of new plants and answer any additional questions regarding the new landscape design. Jean will be glad to follow through with a scheduled visit to make sure everything is growing as you expected. Succulent, perennials and drought tolerant plants of many colors, sizes and textures can offer you enjoyment throughout the entire year here in Southern California. By selecting plants native to California, you will be providing many birds and butterflies a natural, native habitat. With all the colors and fragrances your new landscape will offer, you will be able to enjoy your new garden year round.
